Frequently Asked Questions
How does the process of getting started work?
Reach out through the SendMessage button on Therapy Finder to share a bit about what you’re looking for (press ‘Get Started’ button). I’ll give you a free 15-minute phone call to hear more about your needs and answer any questions.
If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule an initial consultation, and you’ll receive intake paperwork through the patient portal. During the consultation, we’ll review your medical and psychiatric history, complete a diagnostic evaluation, and—if needed—include a brief neurologic exam, questionnaires, or laboratory testing.
Follow-up visits focus on discussing treatment options and creating a plan that works for you.
A doctor–patient relationship is established only after both you and I have agreed to move forward together.
Where is your practice located?
I am licensed to practice medicine in Oregon. My office is located at: 305 SW C Avenue, Suite 1, Corvallis, OR 97333. I see patients both in person and via telehealth. Initial consultations are held in person whenever possible, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Do you accept health insurance?
At this time, Corvallis Psychiatry is an out-of-network, private-pay practice. Payment is due at the time of service.
I expect to be in-network with BlueCross BlueShield and Moda by Fall 2026. Until those contracts are active, appointments are billed at the private-pay/out-of-network rates listed on this website.
For patients with out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill that may be submitted for possible reimbursement. Coverage varies widely, so I recommend contacting your insurance company directly to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.
Please note that Medicaid and Medicare do not provide out-of-network reimbursement for this practice.
What are your session rates?
Initial Consultation
Adults: 75 minutes – $600
Pediatrics: 90 minutes – $600
Follow-Up Sessions
Medication management and/or therapy: 50 minutes – $400
Brief medication management (established patients only): 25 minutes – $250
Administrative tasks
Phone calls or paperwork outside scheduled visits: $75 per 15-minute increment
Payment is due at the time of service unless and until an active in-network contract applies. I anticipate being in-network with BlueCross BlueShield and Moda by Fall 2026. For all other insurance plans, Corvallis Psychiatry remains out-of-network, and a superbill can be provided for possible reimbursement.
Can I see you if I already have a therapist?
Yes. Many of my patients meet weekly with a therapist while seeing me for medication management and psychiatric consultation. With your permission, I’m happy to coordinate with your therapist or other providers to ensure comprehensive, collaborative care.
Can I do therapy-only with Dr. Fanning?
My approach to psychiatry is psychotherapeutic in nature—involving meaningful dialogue and reflection, even when we are not meeting for weekly therapy. Many of my patients also work with a dedicated therapist for ongoing sessions while I provide psychiatric evaluation, treatment planning, and medication management. This combination offers a balanced and comprehensive approach to care.
Do you prescribe controlled substances?
I may prescribe controlled substances (such as stimulants or benzodiazepines) in select situations for established patients when clinically appropriate. These medications are highly regulated due to potential risks. When prescribing controlled substances, we will:
Regularly review risks and benefits
Comply with required face-to-face visits
Work toward the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary
Develop plans for eventual discontinuation when appropriate
